清史稿卷四百九十九 列传二百八十六：
高大镐，湖南桃源人。父陛，临淄知县。嘉庆初，大镐将仆王明省父归，道荆门，遇教匪。大镐从容语，使引见其渠。渠疑为官军谍，欲杀之。大镐自言：“我盗也！奈何杀我？”渠使与其徒角，杀三人，乃录与其徒伍。渠令攻宜城，大镐从行，渡溪，匿桥下得脱。遇馀寇，又杀三人，乃走宜城白吏，言寇且至，为画城守策。大镐在贼中久，知贼畏飞石，令尽发市衢街道民家阶磩碎之，置城上。寇至，见有备乃走。吏欲叙大镐功，大镐辞归桃源。王明在贼中，不与大镐相闻，既为官兵所俘，谳非盗，释之，亦得归。
