旧唐书卷一百八十一 列传第一百三十一：
子简，自允忠初授戎帅，便为节度副使。乾符初，累官至检校工部尚书。允忠卒，即起复为节度观察留后。逾月，加检校右仆射。其后累加至侍中，封昌黎郡王。
贼巢之乱，诸葛爽受其伪命河阳节度使。时僖宗在蜀，寇盗蜂起，简据有六州，甲兵强盛，窃怀僣乱之志，且欲启其封疆，乃举兵攻河阳，爽弃城而走。简遂留兵保守，因北掠邢、洺而归，遂移军攻郓。郓帅曹全晸出战，为简所败，死之。郓将崔君裕收合残众，保郓州。简进攻其城，半年不下，河阳复为诸葛爽所袭。简因欲先讨君裕，次及河阳，乃举兵至郓，君裕请降。寻移军复攻河阳，行及新乡，为爽军逆击，败之。简单骑奔回，忧愤。疽发背而卒，时中和元年十一月也。
