旧唐书卷一百八十九下 列传第一百三十九：
韦叔夏，尚书左仆射安石兄也。少而精通《三礼》。其叔父太子詹事琨尝谓曰："汝能如是，可以继丞相业矣！"举明经。调露年，累除太常博士。后属高宗崩，山陵旧仪多废缺，叔夏与中书舍人贾太隐、太常博士裴守贞等，草创撰定，由是授春官员外郎。则天将拜洛及享明堂，皆别受制，共当时大儒祝钦明、郭山惲撰定仪注。凡所立议，众咸推服之。累迁成均司业。久视元年，特下制曰："吉凶礼仪，国家所重，司礼博士，未甚详明。成均司业韦叔夏、太子率更令祝钦明等，博涉礼经，多所该练，委以参掌，冀弘典式。自今司礼所修仪注，并委叔夏等刊定讫，然后进奏。"
长安四年，擢春官侍郎。神龙初，转太常少卿，充建立庙社使。以功进银青光禄大夫。三年，拜国子祭酒。累封沛国郡公。卒时年七十余。撰《五礼要记》三十卷，行于代。赠兖州都督、修文馆学士，谥曰文。
