陶宗仪，黄岩人。
明史卷二百八十五 列传第一百七十三：
陶宗仪，字九成，黄岩人。父煜，元福建、江西行枢密院都事。宗仪少试有司，一不中即弃去，务古学，无所不窥。出游浙东、西，师事张翥、李孝光、杜本。为诗文，咸有程度，尤刻志字学，习舅氏赵雍篆法。浙帅泰不华、南台御史丑驴举为行人，又辟为教官，皆不就。张士诚据吴，署为军谘，亦不赴。洪武四年诏征天下儒士，六年命有司举人才，皆及宗仪，引疾不赴。晚岁，有司聘为教官，非其志也。二十九年率诸生赴礼部试，读《大诰》，赐钞归，久之卒。所著有《辍耕录》三十卷，又葺《说郛》、《书史会要》、《四书备遗》，并传于世。
