清史稿卷四百八十 列传二百六十七：
瑚，字言夏，号确菴。明崇祯十六年举人。世仪格致篇首提“敬天”二字，瑚由此用力，颇得要领。因定为日纪考德法，而揭敬胜、怠胜於每日之首，格致、诚正、修齐、治平於每月之终，益信“人皆可以为尧舜”非虚语也。复取小学分为六：曰入孝，曰出悌，曰谨行，曰信言，曰亲爱，曰学文；大学分为六：曰格致，曰诚意，曰正心，曰修身，曰齐家，曰治平。谓小学先行后知，大学先知后行，小学之终，即大学之始。瑚之为学，博大精深，以经世自任。值娄江湮塞，江南大饥，瑚上当事救荒书，皆精切可施行，而时不能用。明亡，绝意仕进，避地昆山之蔚村。田沮洳，瑚导乡人筑岸御水，用兵家束伍法，不日而成。父病，刺血籥天，原以身代。父卒，遗产悉让之弟。康熙十四年，卒，年六十有二。门人称曰安道先生。巡抚汤斌即其故居为之立安道书院。
