郭传，一名正传，字文远。洪武七年，帝御武楼，赐学士宋濂坐，谓曰：“天下既定，朕方垂意宿学之士，卿知其人乎？”对曰：“会稽有郭传者，学有渊源，其文雄赡新丽，其议论根据《六经》，异才也。”既而濂持其文以进，帝召见于谨身殿，授翰林应奉，直起居注。迁兵部主事，再迁考功监丞，进监令，出署湖广布政司参政。
