清史稿卷四百八十九 列传二百七十六：
赵福，湖南零陵人。由行伍随征金川，有功，累擢至镇筸中营守备。逆苗滋事，驻守渌溪口，渌溪为镇筸粮道，约士卒严，民安之。五月，官军从狗脑岩溃归，贼众近万人，谋绝粮道，攻之急。时守兵先抽调其半，民请福避去，福曰：“兵卫民，将统兵，尔辈可去，吾奉命守渌溪，去一步，即失职。苗至，福怒马奋槊当先拒之，杀数十人。苗分番更战，民以福不得食，为纳橐饘，福挥去之。且曰：“贼之不遽追戮者，以我在也。我死，合力追汝，无｛口焦｝类矣！”民泣涕去。麾下五十人，感福义，无一逃者。战一昼夜，溪桥被撤，卒死且尽，手过山枪三发，毙苗数十人，指掌焦烂，不能持，身被数创，投溪死，民隔溪望者，咸痛哭。苗旋散去，难民数千赖之全活，后架数椽祀之，曰赵将军庙。
