赵知礼，字齐旦，天水陇西人也。父孝穆，梁候官令。知礼涉猎文史，善隶书。高祖之讨元景仲也，或荐之，引为记室参军。知礼为文赡速，每占授军书，下笔便就，率皆称旨。由是恒侍左右，深被委任，当时计划，莫不预焉。知礼亦多所献替。高祖平侯景，军至白茅湾，上表于梁元帝及与王僧辩论述军事，其文并知礼所制。
侯景平，授中书侍郎，封始平县子，邑三百户。高祖为司空，以为从事中郎。高祖入辅，迁给事黄门侍郎，兼卫尉卿。高祖受命，迁通直散骑常侍，直殿省。寻迁散骑常侍，守太府卿，权知领军事。天嘉元年，进爵为伯，增邑通前七百户。王琳平，授持节、督吴州诸军事、明威将军、吴州刺史。
知礼沈静有谋谟，每军国大事，世祖辄令玺书问之。秩满，为明威将军、太子右卫率。迁右卫将军，领前军将军。六年卒，时年四十七。诏赠侍中，谥曰忠。子允恭嗣。
