谢士元，长乐人。
明史卷一百七十二 列传第六十：
谢士元，字仲仁，长乐人。景泰五年进士。授户部主事。督通州仓，陈四弊，屡与监仓宦官忤。天顺七年擢建昌知府。地多盗，为军将所庇。士元以他事持军将，奸发辄得。民怀券讼田宅，士元叱曰：“伪也，券今式，而所讼乃二十年事。”民惊服，讼为衰止。考满，进从三品俸，治府事如故，以忧去。
服阕，起知广信。永丰有银矿，处州民盗发之，聚数千人。将士惮其骁彍，不敢剿。士元勒兵趋之，贼遮刺士元，伤左股。裹创力战，获其魁，塞矿穴而还。入觐，改永平。遭丧不赴。
服阕，擢四川右参政，进右布政使。弘治元年就擢右副都御史，巡抚其地。土番大小姓者，将煽乱，士元托行边，驰诣其地。贼恐，罗拜道左，徐慰遣之。岁大祲，流民趋就食。士元振恤有方，全活者数万。明年，坐事下狱。事白，遂致仕。
