谢哲，字颖豫，陈郡阳夏人也。祖朏，梁司徒。父譓，梁右光禄大夫。哲美风仪，举止酝藉，而襟情豁然，为士君子所重。起家梁秘书郎，累迁广陵太守。侯景之乱，以母老因寓居广陵，高祖自京口渡江应接郭元建，哲乃委质，深被敬重。高祖为南徐州刺史，表哲为长史。荆州陷，高祖使哲奉表于晋安王劝进。敬帝承制征为给事黄门侍郎，领步兵校尉。贞阳侯僣位，以哲为通直散骑常侍，侍东宫。敬帝即位，迁长兼侍中。高祖受命，迁都官尚书、豫州大中正、吏部尚书。出为明威将军、晋陵太守，入为中书令。世祖嗣位，为太子詹事。出为明威将军、衡阳内史，秩中二千石。迁长沙太守，将军、加秩如故。还除散骑常侍、中书令。废帝即位，以本官领前将军。高宗为录尚书，引为侍中、仁威将军、司徒左长史。未拜，光大元年卒，时年五十九。赠侍中、中书监，谥康子。
