明史卷二百四十五 列传第一百三十三：
蒋英，嘉善人。举进士，历知松溪、漳浦、宜兴。天启时，由南京验封郎中，出为福建副使，遂遭珰祸。忠贤败，以故官分巡苏、松，坐事贬秩。未行而宜兴民变，上官以英先治宜兴，得民心，檄之抚治。宜兴非英所辖，辞不得，则单骑往谕，惩豪家僮客数人，令乱民自献其首恶，乱遂定。宜兴故多豪家，修撰陈于泰、编修陈于鼎兄弟尤横，遂激民变，群执兵鼓噪，势汹汹。赖英，事旋定。而周延儒方枋国，与陈氏有连，衔英，再贬两秩，遂归。
巩，迁安人。以附忠贤，骤迁至兵部侍郎。庄烈帝定逆案，削籍论配。我大清拔迁安，巩遁去，后诣阙自言拒聘，上所撰《却聘书》。兵部尚书梁廷栋论之，下狱坐死。巡抚杨嗣昌为讼冤，得遣戍。
