蒋信，常德人。
明史卷二百八十三 列传第一百七十一：
蒋信，字卿实，常德人。年十四，居丧毁瘠。与同郡冀元亨善，王守仁谪龙场，过其地，偕元亨事焉。嘉靖初，贡入京师，复师湛若水。若水为南祭酒，门下士多分教。至十一年，举进士，累官四川水利佥事。却播州土官贿，置妖道士于法。迁贵州提学副使。建书院二，廪群髦士其中。龙场故有守仁祠，为置祠田。坐擅离职守，除名。信初从守仁游时，未以良知教。后从若水游最久，学得之湛氏为多。信践履笃实，不事虚谈。湖南学者宗其教，称之曰正学先生。卒年七十九。时宜兴周冲，字道通，亦游王、湛之门。由举人授高安训导，至唐府纪善。尝曰：“湛之体认天理，即王之致良知也。”与信集师说为《新泉问辨录》。两家门人各相非笑，冲为疏通其旨焉。
