北史卷七十八 列传第六十六：
董纯，字德厚，陇西成纪人。祖和，魏太子左卫率。父升，周柱国。纯少有膂力，便弓马。仕周，位司御上士、典驭下大夫。从武帝平齐，拜仪同，进为大兴县侯。隋文帝受禅，进爵汉曲县公。后以军功，进位上开府。开皇末，以劳旧拜左卫将军，改封顺政县公。后从杨素平汉王谅，以功拜柱国，进爵郡公，再迁左骁卫将军。齐王暕之得罪，纯坐与交通，帝谴之。纯曰："此数诣齐王者，以先帝、先后往在仁寿宫，置元德太子及齐王于膝上，谓臣曰：'汝好看此二儿，勿忘吾言。'臣诚不敢忘先帝言。时陛下亦侍先帝侧。"帝改容曰："诚有斯旨。"于是舍之。数日，出为汶山太守。岁余，突厥寇边，转榆林太守。会彭城贼帅张大彪、宗世模等保悬薄山，帝令纯讨破之，斩万余级，筑为京观。又破贼魏麒麟于单父。及帝重征辽东，复以纯为彭城留守。东海贼彭孝才转入沂水，保伍不及山，纯击之，禽孝才于阵，车裂之。时盗贼日益，纯虽克捷，而所在蜂起。有谮纯怯懦不能平贼，帝遣锁诣东都。有司见帝怒甚，希旨致纯死罪，竟诛。
