胡顺之，原州临泾人。
宋史卷三百三 列传第六十二：
胡顺之，字孝先，原州临泾人。登进士第，试秘书省校书郎、知休宁县。民有汪姓者豪横，县不能制，岁租赋常不入，适以讼逮捕，不肯出。顺之曰："令不行何以为政。"命积薪环而焚之，豪大骇，少长趋出，叩头伏辜，推其长械送州，致之法。为青州从事。高丽入贡，中贵人挟以为重，使州官旅拜于郊。顺之曰："青，大镇也。在唐押新罗、渤海，奈何卑屈如此？"独不拜。大姓麻士瑶阴结贵侍，匿兵械，服用拟尚方，亲党仆使甚多，州县被陵蔑，莫敢发其奸。会士瑶杀兄子温裕，其母诉于州，众相视曰："孰敢往捕者？"顺之持檄径去，尽得其党。有诏鞫问，士瑶论死，其子弟坐流放者百余人。改著作佐郎、知常熟县，迁秘书丞，分司南京。
仁宗即位，迁太常博士。天圣、明道间，再上宰相书，乞太后还政，宰相匿不以闻。太后崩，顺之附疾置自言，求其书，出宰相家。仁宗嘉其忠，特迁尚书屯田员外郎。其后数论朝廷事，仲淹爱其才，然挟术尚权，喜纵横捭阖。以目失明废，州里皆惮焉。
