天尺，字履先。年十七，应学使试。士奇手录其赋、诗示诸生，名大起。徵鸿博，念亲老不就，以举人终。雍正时修一统志，与孝舆同纂粤乘。孝舆忤俗，被口语，天尺力白之。所居里曰石湖，世以前有范石湖，因称后石湖以别之云。
