清史稿卷四百七十八 列传二百六十五：
家绍，字瑶辰，山西翼城人。以拔贡为壶关县教谕。道光二年成进士，授江西龙门知县。发奸摘伏，以神明称。调上饶，再调南昌。首邑繁剧，而尽心民事，理讼尝至夜不辍。连年水患，饥民闻省会散赈，麕聚郭外。家绍与新建令同主赈，始散米，令饥民自爨。来者益众，赈所濒河，几莫能容。乃改散钱，令各返乡里，候截留漕米济之。时水灾益棘，家绍请开仓平粜，复分厂煮粥以赈。主者循例备三千人食，而就食者五万，汹汹不可止。家绍至，谕之曰：“食少人众，咄嗟不能办。汝等姑退，诘朝来，不使一饥民无粥啖也。”众皆迎拜曰：“石爹爹不欺人，原听处置。”爹爹者，江西民呼父也。历署大庾、新城、新建三县，擢铜鼓营同知，署饶州、赣州二府，所至皆得民心。
家绍口呐呐若不得辞，自大吏、僚友、缙绅、士民、卒隶无不称为循吏，顾自视欿然。尝曰：“吏而良，民父母也；不良，则民贼也。父母，吾不能；民贼也，则吾不敢，吾其为民佣乎！”十九年，卒。五县皆祀名宦，南昌民尤德之，建祠於百花洲。
