旧五代史卷一百二十四（周书） 列传四：
王进，幽州良乡人。少落魄，不事生业，为人勇悍，走及奔马，尝聚党为盗，封境患之。符彦超为河朔郡守，以赂诱置之左右。长兴初，彦超镇安州，属部曲王希全构乱军州，令进赍变状闻于朝廷，明宗赏其捷足，诏隶于军中。洎契丹内寇，战于胶口，进独追擒六十七人，时汉祖总侍卫亲军，知其骁果，擢为马前亲校。汉祖镇河东，或边上警急，令进赍封章达于阙下，自并至汴，不六七日复焉，由是恩抚颇厚。继任戎职，累迁至奉国军都指挥使。从太祖入平内难，以功迁虎捷右厢都指挥使，历汝、郑防御使，亦有政声。俄授相州节度使，为政之道顿减于前，议者惜之。显德元年秋，以疾卒于任。赠检校太师。
