王继涛，河朔人。
宋史卷二百五十五 列传第十四：
王继涛，河朔人，少给事汉祖左右。乾祐初，补供奉官，历诸司副使。仕周，为右武卫大将军。淮南平，为天长军使。显德五年，迁和州刺史。
宋初，为左骁骑大将军，再迁左神武大将军，乾德二年，命护徒治安陵隧道。
大军伐蜀，为凤州路砦使。兴元降，王全斌命继涛权府事。孟昶降，全斌又遣继涛与供奉官王守讷部送昶归阙。守讷白全斌，言继涛问昶求宫妓、金帛，全斌遂留继涛，止令守讷送昶俄诏以继涛为彭州刺史。
绵州军乱，劫全师雄为帅，率众攻彭州，继涛与都监李德荣拒之，德荣战死，继涛身被八枪，单骑走至成都。
素与通事舍人田钦祚有隙，会钦祚入朝，乃诬奏继涛以他事。太祖驿召继涛，将面质之，道病卒。诏曰："故彭州刺史王继涛，先登击贼，身被重创，优典未加，赍志而殁。故阶州刺史高彦晖，帅师讨贼，奋不顾命，垂老之年，殒身锋镝。永言痛悼，不忘于怀。宜各赐其家粟帛。"
