旧唐书卷一百四十六 列传第九十六：
王纬，字文卿，太原人也。祖景，司门员外、莱州刺史。父之咸，长安尉；与昆弟之贲、之涣皆善属文。之咸以纬贵，故累赠刺史。纬举明经，又书判入等，历长安尉，出佐使府，授御史郎官，入朝为金部员外郎、剑南租庸使、检校司封郎中、彭州刺史、检校庶子、兼御史中丞、西川节度营田副使。初，大历中，路嗣恭为江西观察使，陷害判官李泌，将诛之；纬亦为路嗣恭判官，说谕救解，获免。贞元三年，泌为相，擢授纬给事中。未数日，又擢为润州刺史、兼御史中丞、浙江西道都团练观察使。十年，加御史大夫，兼诸道盐铁转运使。三岁，加检校工部尚书。纬性勤俭，历官清洁，而伤于苛碎，多用削刻之吏，督察巡属，人不聊生。贞元十四年卒，年七十一，废朝一日，赠太子少保。
