旧唐书卷一百九十中 列传第一百四十：
王无竞者，字仲烈。其先琅邪人，因官徙居东莱，宋太尉弘之十一代孙。父侃，棣州司马。
无竞有文学，初应下笔成章举及第，解褐授赵州栾城县尉，历秘书省正字，转右武卫仓曹、洛阳县尉，迁监察御史，转殿中。旧例，每日更直于殿前。正班时，宰相宗楚客、杨再思常离班偶语，无竞前曰："朝礼至敬，公等大臣，不宜轻易以慢恒典。"楚客等大怒，转无竞为太子舍人。神龙初，坐诃诋权幸，出为苏州司马。及张易之等败，以尝交往，再贬岭外，卒于广州，年五十四。
