明史卷一百七十 列传第五十八：
王伟，字士英，攸人。年十四，随父谪戍宣府。宣宗巡边，献《安边颂》，命补保安州学生。举正统元年进士，改庶吉士，授户部主事。英宗北狩，命行监察御史事，集民壮守广平。谦引为职方司郎中。军书填委，处分多中窾会，遂荐擢兵部右侍郎。出视边，叛人小田儿为敌间，谦属伟图之。会田儿随贡使入，至阳和城，壮士从道旁突出，断其头去，使者不敢诘。
伟喜任智数。既为谦所引，恐嫉谦者目己为朋附，尝密奏谦误，冀自解。帝以其奏授谦，谦叩头谢。帝曰：“吾自知卿，何谢为？”谦出，伟问：“上与公何言？”谦笑曰：“我有失，望君面规我，何至尔邪？”出奏示之，伟大惭沮。然竟坐谦党，罢归。成化三年复官，请毁白琦所镂板。逾年，告病归卒。
