清史稿卷二百三十四 列传二十一：
瑞，永忠子。方永忠之黜也，以从弟永兴袭爵。永兴卒，以瑞袭爵。时瑞方八岁，所部副都统邓广明驻潮州如故。十三年，潮州总兵官刘进忠叛应三桂，瑞部兵与巷战三日，进忠引郑锦兵入城，执瑞、广明，驱将卒家属二千馀人徙福建，置诸漳浦。十六年，复执瑞送台湾。康亲王杰书师定福建，疏言：“瑞所部及其孥无所统属，应令有地得以总集。”上命副都统张梦吉、宋文科统其众驻潮州，同将军赖塔等协守，当给俸饷，令督饷侍郎达都视旧例从厚。梦吉等寻疏请送孥留京师，杰书又请以所部分隶督、抚、提、镇，而处其孥於山西诸省。圣祖谕谓：“瑞及所部官兵素怀忠义，特以众寡不敌，为贼所胁。”令驻潮州如故。
锦得瑞，爵以侯。瑞不原附锦，谋待我师至为内应。二十年十一月，锦将朱友以瑞谋告锦，锦遂幽瑞，瑞及妻郑皆自杀，锦尽杀其拏。台湾平，圣祖闻瑞死事状，下廷臣议，求其族，以瑞从侄沈熊昭袭爵。
