炳谦，字幼孜，炳震季弟也。次弟炳巽，字绎旃。著水经注集释订譌，据明黄省曾刊本，以己意校定之。遍检古籍，录其文字异同者，间附诸家考订之说。州县沿革，则悉以今名释焉。初未见朱谋｛土韦｝本，后求得，多与之合。同时治水经者，有全祖望、赵一清。
