沈嗣绶，江阴人。
清史稿卷四百九十八 列传二百八十五：
沈嗣绶，字森甫，江阴人。父□鋆，湖北通判，咸丰二年死於寇。嗣绶奉母还，寇至，徙避江船，高不可攀，展□以其母登。至通州，转徙山东、河南，结绳床舁母，步从之，千数百里，不去左右。未至兰山，道遇寇。嗣绶涕泣乞免，寇感其孝，遣四骑护行。至兰山，方闭城拒寇，嗣绶求入城，守者疑谍也，趣缚之，涕泣言其故，乃得释。既，亦得官湖北，以母病不赴。侍养十六年，进汤药，夜起，虑履声惊母，虽严寒必跣。凡事婉曲称母意，见者感叹。
