武英字汉杰，太原人。父密，随刘继元归朝，仕至侍禁、镇定同巡检。与契丹战，没于望都，赠西京左坊使，录英为三班借职，以右班殿直为忻、代州同巡检。会州将出猎，因留帐饮，英曰；"今空郡而来，万一敌乘间入城，奈何？"既而敌百余骑果入寇，英领众左右驰射，悉禽获之。以功迁左班殿直、监雄州榷场，改右侍禁、阁门祗候，为环州都巡检使，徙洪德砦主，又徙庆州柔远砦。
元昊寇延州，英主兵攻后桥，以分敌势。擢内殿承制、环庆路驻泊都监。破党平族，又从任福破白豹城，迁礼宾副使，寻兼泾原行营都监。与任福合诸将战张家堡，斩首数十百，敌弃羊马伪遁。诸将皆趋利争进，英以为前必有伏，众不听，已而伏发。福等既败，英犹力战，自辰至申，矢尽遇害。赠邢州观察使。录其子三班奉职永符为东头供奉官、阁门祗候；永孚，西头供奉官；永昌，左侍禁。侄永保，右班殿直；永锡，三班奉职。
