明史卷一百六十三 列传第五十一：
燫，字贞恒，庭机长子。嘉靖二十六进士。改庶吉士，授检讨。景恭王就邸，命燫侍讲读。三迁国子祭酒。自燫祖瀚，父庭机，三世为祭酒，前此未有也。隆度改元，擢礼部右侍郎，充日讲官。寇犯边，条上备边七事。改吏部，调南京吏部，署礼部事。魏国公徐鹏举废长立幼，燫持不可。万历元年进工部尚书，改礼部。仍居南京。名位一与父庭机等。母丧去官。服阕，以庭机笃老侍养，家居七年，先父庭机卒。赠太子少保，谥文恪。明代三世为尚书，并得谥文。林氏一家而已。子世勤，性笃孝。芝生者三，枯篁复青。御史上其事，被旌。
