烃字贞□，庭机次子也。嘉靖四十一年进士。授户部主事，历广西副使。兄燫卒，请急归养。久之，历太仆少卿。因灾异极陈矿税之害，请释逮系诸臣。不报。终南京工部尚书致仕。林氏三世五尚书，皆内行修洁，为时所称。
