林伯桐，番禺人。
清史稿卷四百八十二 列传二百六十九：
林伯桐，字桐君，番禺人。嘉庆六年举人。生平好为考据之学，宗主汉儒，而践履则服膺朱子，无门户之见。事亲孝，道光六年，试礼部归，父已卒，悲恸不欲生。居丧悉遵古礼，蔬食、不入内者三年。自是不复上公车，一意奉母。与两弟友爱，教授生徒百馀人，咸敦内行，勉实学。粤督阮元、邓廷桢皆敬礼之。元延为学海堂学长，廷桢聘课其二子。二十四年，以选授德庆州学正，阅三年卒於官，年七十。
伯桐於诸经无不通，尤深於毛诗。谓传笺不同者，大抵毛义为长，孔疏多以王肃语为毛意，又往往混郑於毛。为毛诗学者，当分别观之，庶几不失家法。因考郑笺异义，为毛诗通考三十卷，又著毛诗传例二卷，又缀其碎义琐辞，著毛诗识小三十卷，皆极精覈。他著有易象释例十二卷，易象雅训十二卷，三礼注疏考异二十卷，冠昏丧祭仪考十二卷，左传风俗二十卷，古音劝学三十卷，史学蠡测三十卷，供冀小言二卷，古谚笺十一卷，两粤水经注四卷，粤风四卷，修本堂藁四卷，诗文集二十四卷。
