杨通照，铜仁人。
明史卷二百九十七 列传第一百八十五：
杨通照、通杰，铜仁人。母周氏有疾，兄弟争拜祷，求以身代。阅三年，不入内室。万历三十六年，群苗流劫，至其家，母被执去。二人追斗数十里，被伤不顾。至鬼空溪，见贼絷母，大骂，声震山谷，横击万众中，为贼所磔死。通照年二十五，通杰年二十二。泰昌元年，巡抚李枟、巡按史永安上其事，旌曰双孝之门。
时无锡民浦邵，贼缚其父虞，将杀之。邵以首迎刃而死，父得免。宁化民林上元，贼掠其继母李氏出城，上元从城上持枪一跃而下，直奔贼垒，刺死二人。贼避其锋，立出李氏，因引去，城赖以全。皆万历四十三年旌。
崇祯七年，流贼陷竹谿，执知县余霄将杀之。子诸生伯麟请代，乃免。
