北史卷七十三 列传第六十一：
武通，弘农华阴人，性果烈，善驰射。数以行军总管讨西南夷，以功封白水郡公，拜左武卫将军。时党项羌屡为边患，朝廷以其有威名，使镇边，历岷、兰二州总管。复与周法尚讨嘉州叛獠，法尚军初不利，武通为贼断归路。于是束马悬车，出贼不意，频战破之。贼知其孤军无援，倾部落而至。武通转斗数百里，为贼所拒，四面路绝。武通轻骑挑战，坠马，为贼所执，杀而啖之。
