清史稿卷四百九十九 列传二百八十六：
李林孙，河南襄城人。乾隆末，教匪起，将攻河南会城。是时布政使马慧裕主城守，顾无兵，度无以御。有陈伯瑜者，郫县人，尝为河南巡抚客，先事言教匪且起，以妖言下狱。川、楚乱作，诸大吏礼为上客。友林孙，言於慧裕，使率乡兵五百人助守。教匪至，伯瑜以二百五十人面水肄战。匪易其少，就观之，林孙以二百五十人出其背夹击，大破之。知县林岚乞其兵守卢氏，教匪渠张潮儿来攻，号十万，岚兵不及二千，莫敢进。岚谢其众曰：“公等皆林孙人，徒死无益。”指大树曰：“我官也，死是间耳。”众怒曰：“谁无面目者，致公为此言？今日战，有不胜贼而生者，撞大石破脑死！”岚拜，众亦拜。遂战，贼几歼。人或以兵家言问林孙，林孙谢不省，曰：“豪杰无他，得人心耳。”
