清史稿卷四百九十七 列传二百八十四：
李三，江苏宜兴人。一目眇，一足跛。父死，二兄皆娶，析产，有田六亩、屋四椽、舟一，二兄分田、屋，而畀三以舟。迭养母，三奉母食必有肉，母至二兄所，三辄私致甘旨。二兄死，嫂一前死、一嫁，三独奉母。晨爨毕，乃以舟应客，或当出五十里外，度尽日不能返，虽重雇不之许。事母三十年，邻里称其孝，抚兄子慈，而教之严。母将死，呼孙执手泣曰：“儿学好，毋累汝叔怒！”自是不复怒其兄子。
