宋史卷四百六十 列传第二百一十九：
朱娥者，越州上虞朱回女也。母早亡，养于祖媪。娥十岁，里中朱颜与媪竞，持刀欲杀媪，一家惊溃，独娥号呼突前，拥蔽其媪，手挽颜衣，以身下坠颜刀，曰："宁杀我，毋杀媪也。"媪以娥故得脱。娥连被数十刀，犹手挽颜衣不释，颜忿恚，断其喉以死。事闻，赐其家粟帛。其后，会稽令董皆为娥立像于曹娥庙，岁时配享焉。
