宋史卷三百一十二 列传第七十一：
孝广字仲锡。元丰末，为北外都水丞。元祐中，大臣议复河故道，召孝广问之，言不可，出通判保州。久之，复为都水丞。前此，班行使臣部木筏至者，须校验无所失亡，乃得送铨，监吏领赇谢，不时遣。孝广治籍疏姓名，谨其去留，一岁中，归选者百辈。
除京西转运判官，入为水部员外郎。河决内黄，诏孝广行视，遂疏苏村，凿钜野，导河北流，纾澶、滑、深、瀛之害。迁都水使者。洛水频岁湓涌，浸啮北岸，孝广按河堤，得废□遗迹，曰："此昔人所以杀水势也。"即日浚决之，累石为防，自是无水患。出提点永兴路刑狱，陕西、京西转运副使，还为左司郎中，擢户部侍郎，进尚书。坐钱帛不给费，罢为天章阁待制、知杭州。又以前聘契丹失奉使体，夺职。寻复之，移知潭州，加显谟阁直学士、知郓州。
孝广与胡安国、邹浩善，皆大观中忤时相，御史论之，复夺职知饶州。逾年，徙广州，历成德军、太原府，得故职以卒，年六十，赠正议大夫。孝广涖官以严称，获盗，辄碎其手焉。
