方其明，亦桐城人。亦为佣而养母，母亦病疲癃。其明虑出佣母饥渴，乃弃佣为丐，负母以出，得食必先母。母卒，乃为圃，时荷锄而泣曰：“昔为乞，苦饥寒，不离母侧；今稍足衣食，思母不可得矣！”
