清史稿卷五百五 列传二百九十二：
戴梓，字文开，浙江钱塘人。少有机悟，自制火器，能击百步外。康熙初，耿精忠叛，犯浙江，康亲王杰书南征，梓以布衣从军，献连珠火铳法。下江山有功，授道员劄付。师还，圣祖召见，知其能文，试春日早朝诗，称旨，授翰林院侍讲。偕高士奇入直南书房，寻改直养心殿。梓通天文算法，预纂修律吕正义，与南怀仁及诸西洋人论不合，咸忌之。陈弘勋者，张献忠养子，投诚得官，向梓索诈，互殴构讼。忌者中以蜚语，褫职，徙关东。后赦还家，留於铁岭，遂隶籍。
所造连珠铳，形如琵琶，火药铅丸，皆贮於铳脊，以机轮开闭。其机有二，相衔如牝牡，扳一机则火药铅丸自落筒中，第二机随之并动，石激火出而铳发，凡二十八发乃重贮。法与西洋机关枪合，当时未通用，器藏於家，乾隆中犹存。西洋人贡蟠肠鸟枪，梓奉命仿造，以十枪赉其使臣。又奉命造子母炮，母送子出坠而碎裂，如西洋炸炮，圣祖率诸臣亲临视之，锡名为“威远将军”，镌制者职名於炮后。亲征噶尔丹，用以破敌。
