徐祯卿，吴县人。
明史卷二百八十六 列传第一百七十四：
徐祯卿，字昌谷，吴县人。资颖特，家不蓄一书，而无所不通。自为诸生，已工诗歌，与里人唐寅善，寅言之沈周、杨循吉，由是知名。举弘治十八年进士。孝宗遣中使问祯卿与华亭陆深名，深遂得馆选，而祯卿以貌寝不与。授大理左寺副，坐失囚，贬国子博士。祯卿少与祝允明、唐寅、文征明齐名，号“吴中四才子”。其为读，喜白居易、刘禹锡。既登第，与李梦阳、何景明游，悔其少作，改而趋汉、魏、盛唐，然故习犹在，梦阳讥其守而未化。卒，年二十有三。祯卿体癯神清，诗熔炼精警，为吴中诗人之冠，年虽不永，名满士林。子伯虬，举人，亦能诗。
