徐岱，苏州嘉兴人。
旧唐书卷一百八十九下 列传第一百三十九：
徐岱，字处仁，苏州嘉兴人也。家世以农为业。岱好学，六籍诸子，悉所探究，问无不通，难莫能诎。大历中，转运使刘晏表荐之，授校书郎。浙西观察使李栖筠厚遇之，敕故所居为复礼乡。寻为朝廷推援，改河南府偃师县尉。建中年，礼仪使蒋镇特荐为太常博士，掌礼仪。从幸奉天、兴元，改膳部员外郎兼博士。贞元初，迁水部郎中，充皇太子及舒王已下侍读。寻改司封郎中，擢拜给事中，加兼史馆修撰，并依旧侍读。承两宫恩顾，时无与比。而谨慎过甚，未尝泄禁中语，亦不谈人之短。婚嫁甥侄之孤遗者，时人以此称之。然吝啬颇甚，仓库管钥，皆自执掌，获讥于时。卒，时年五十。上叹惜之，赙以帛绢。皇太子又遗绢一百疋，赠礼部尚书。
