徐守质，江南常熟人。顺治初，守质与兄基奉母避乱，母老病，兵至，度不能去。守质谓基曰：“毋徒死，绝徐氏后。兄速行，守质当奉母。”基不可。兵迫，守质愠，促基行。守质有妹適袁氏，早寡，携子与母俱。基乃弃妻、子，挟孤甥而遁。事定，基还，母与袁氏妹俱自沉井，守质被二创仆，死。
