清史稿卷四百九十九 列传二百八十六：
张瑛，字玉采，山西汾阳人，居西官村。顺治六年，姜瓖乱，众劫东官村赵氏，尽杀其人。独一子亡归瑛，瑛纳之，众索焉，瑛不与。瓖乱定，瑛助赵氏子讼於官，诛劫者。当乱急，村人将走避，瑛曰：“贼未至先走，能保必全乎？孰若为守计！”众曰：“如无砦堡何！”瑛曰：“砦堡诚不可猝为，环村而沟焉，其可。”遂为沟，务深广。瑛家有楼，贮村人财物其中。既而贼大至，逾沟，村人退保楼。瑛见贼渠据胡床坐而指挥，发石中之，立毙。馀贼怒攻楼，取薪将焚，众汲井以救。持数日，乃稍稍去。瑛率众出击之，贼奔溃，村以得全。瑛家饶，岁终，必出粟周邻里。康熙三十六年，饥，县民鬻田，贬其值，瑛辄收之，得田且千亩。明年大穰，瑛榜诸村曰：“原赎者听。”不十日尽赎去。瑛卒，年九十有一。
