张昌龄，冀州南宫人。
旧唐书卷一百九十上 列传第一百四十：
张昌龄，冀州南宫人。弱冠以文词知名。本州欲以秀才举之，昌龄以时废此科已久，固辞。乃充进士贡举及第。贞观二十一年，翠微宫成，诣阙献颂。太宗召见，试作《息兵诏》草，俄顷而就。太宗甚悦，因谓之曰："昔祢衡、潘岳，皆恃才傲物，以至非命。汝才不减二贤，宜追鉴前轨，以副吾所取也。"乃敕于通事舍人里供奉。寻为昆山道行军记室，破卢明月，平龟兹，军书露布，皆昌龄之文也。再转长安尉，出为襄州司户，丁忧去官。后贺兰敏之奏引于北门修撰，寻又罢去。乾封元年卒。文集二十卷。
兄昌宗，亦有学业，官至太子舍人、修文馆学士。撰《古文纪年新传》三十卷。
