旧唐书卷一百一十七 列传第六十七：
荛，字野夫。大中二年，擢进士第，累官至尚书郎、知制诰。正拜中书舍人、户部侍郎。乾符中，自尚书右丞迁吏部侍郎。荛美文词，善谈论，而驭事简率，铨管非所长。出为陕州观察使，以器韵自高，不屑细故，权移仆下。时河南寇盗蜂起，王仙芝乱汉南，朝纲不振，而荛自恃清贵，不恤人之疾苦。百姓诉旱，荛指庭树曰："此尚有叶，何旱之有？"乃笞之，吏民结怨。既而为军人所逐，饥渴甚，投民舍求水，民以溺饮之。初为军人所俘，翦其髭发，拜而获免。以失守贬端州司马，复入为左散骑常侍，卒。
