宋彦筠，雍丘人。
旧五代史卷一百二十三（周书） 列传三：
宋彦筠，雍丘人也。初隶滑州军，梁氏与庄宗夹河之战，彦筠时为战棹都指挥使，以劳迁开封府牙校。庄宗有天下，擢领禁军。伐蜀之役，率所部从康延孝为前锋，蜀平，历维、渝二州刺史。明宗在位，连典数郡。晋初，自汝州防御使讨安从进于襄阳，以功拜邓州节度使，累官至检校太尉。未几，历晋、陕二镇。晋少帝嗣位，再领邓州，寻移镇河中。汉初，授太子太师致仕。国初，拜左卫上将军。世宗嗣位，复为太子太师致仕。显德四年冬，卒于西京之私第。辍视朝一日，诏赠侍中。
初，彦筠入成都，据一甲第，第中资货钜万，妓女数十辈，尽为其所有。一旦，与其主母微忿，遽击杀之，自后常有所睹，彦筠心不自安，乃修浮屠法以禳之，因而溺志于释氏。其后，每岁至金仙入涅之日，常衣斩縗号恸于其像前，佞佛也如是。家有侍婢数十人，皆令削发披缁，以侍左右，大为当时所诮。又性好货殖，能图什一之利，良田甲第，相望于郡国。将终，以伊、洛之间田庄十数区上进，并籍于官焉。
