旧五代史卷七十二（唐书） 列传二十四：
孟汉琼，本镇州王镕之小竖也。明宗镇常山，得侍左右。明宗即位，自诸司使累迁宣徽南院使。汉琼性通黠，善交构。初见秦王权重，及挟王淑妃势，倾心事之；及朱、冯用事，又与之缔结。秦王领兵至天津桥，时汉琼与朱、冯及康义诚方会议于内庭，谋犹未决，汉琼独出死力，先入殿门，奏于明宗，语在《秦王传》。汉琼即自介马以召禁军。秦王既诛，翼日，令汉琼驰骑召闵帝于邺。（《通鉴》：遣汉琼征从厚，且权知天雄军府事。）闵帝嗣位，尤恃恩宠，期月之内，累加开府仪同三司、骠骑大将军。西军既叛，闵帝急召汉琼，欲令先入于邺，汉琼藏匿不行。潞王行及陕州，乃悉召诸妓妾诀别，欲手刃之，众知其心，率皆藏窜。初，潞王失守于河中，勒归于清化里第。时王淑妃恒令汉琼传教旨于潞王，王善待之，故汉琼自谓潞王于己有恩。至是，乃单骑至渑池谒见潞王，因自恸哭，欲有所陈。潞王曰：“诸事不言可知。”汉琼即自预从臣之列，寻戮于路左。
