旧唐书卷一百五十四 列传第一百四：
戢，字方举，戣母弟也。以季父巢父死难，德宗嘉其忠，诏与一子正员官，因授戢修武尉。以长兄戡未仕，固乞回授。举明经登第，判入高等，授秘书省校书郎、阳翟尉，入拜监察御史，转殿中，分司东都。时昭义节度判官徐玟，以狡慝助成从史之恶。从史既得罪，孟元阳为昭义节度，复欲用玟为宾佐，戢遂牒泽潞收玟以俟命，然后列状上闻，竟流玟播州。转侍御史、库部员外郎。
初，泾师之乱，朱泚署彭偃为舍人。至是偃子充符为鄜坊从事，或荐其才，执事者召至京师。戢谓京兆尹裴武曰："朱泚为伪诏，指斥乘舆，皆彭偃之词也。悖逆之子，不能鸟窜兽伏，乃违道以干誉，子盍效季孙行父之逐莒仆，以勉事君者。"武即日逐充符。
迁京兆尹，出为汝州刺史、大理卿。出为潭州刺史、湖南观察使。时兄戣为岭南，兄弟皆居节镇，朝野荣之。入为右散骑常侍，拜京兆尹。时累月亢旱，深轸圣情。戢自祷雨于曲池，是夕大雨。文宗甚悦，诏兼御史大夫。大和三年正月卒，赠工部尚书。
子温业，登进士第。大中后，历位通显。温业子晦。
