宋史卷二百九十七 列传第五十六：
宗翰字周翰。登进士第，知仙源县，而为治有条理，遇族人有恩，不以私故骫法。王珪、司马光皆上章论荐，由通判陵州为夔峡转运判官，提点京东刑狱、知虔州。城滨章、贡、两江，岁为水啮。宗翰伐石为址，冶铁锢之，由是屹然，诏书褒美。历陕、扬、洪、兖州，皆以治闻。哲宗初立求言，吏民上书以千数，诏司马光采阅其可用者十五人，独称奖其二，乃宗翰与王巩也。
元祐初，召为司农少卿，迁鸿胪卿。言："孔子之后，自汉以来有褒成、奉圣、宗圣之号，皆赐实封或缣帛，以奉先祀。至于国朝，益加崇礼。真宗东封临幸，赐子孙世袭公爵，然兼领他官，不在故郡，于名为不正。讲自今袭封之人，使终身在乡里。"诏改衍圣公为奉圣公，不领他职，给庙学田万亩，赐国子监书，立学官以诲其子弟。进刑部侍郎，属疾求去，以宝文阁待制知徐州，未拜而卒。
