夏方，字文正，会稽永兴人也。家遭疫疠，父母伯叔群从死者十三人。方年十四，夜则号哭，昼则负土，十有七载，葬送得毕，因庐于墓侧，种植松柏，乌鸟猛兽驯扰其旁。吴时拜仁义都尉，累迁五官中郎将。朝会未尝乘车，行必让路。吴平，除高山令。百姓有罪应加捶挞者，方向之涕泣而不加罪，大小莫敢犯焉。在官三年，州举秀才，还家，卒，年八十七。
