吴嘉纪，泰州人。
清史稿卷四百八十四 列传二百七十一：
吴嘉纪，字宾贤，泰州人。布衣。家安丰盐场之东淘。地滨海，无交游。自名所居曰陋轩。贫甚，虽丰岁常乏食。独喜吟诗，晨夕啸咏自適，不交当世。郡人汪楫、孙枝蔚与友善，时称道之，遂为王士祯所知。尤赏其五言清冷古淡，雪夜酌酒，为之序，驰使三百里致之。嘉纪因买舟至扬州谒谢定交，由是四方知名士争与之倡和。
嘉纪工为危苦严冷之词，尝撰今乐府，凄急幽奥，能变通陈迹，自为一家。所著陋轩集多散佚，友人复裒集之为四卷。其诗风骨颇遒，运思亦复劖刻。由所遭不偶，每多怨咽之音，而笃行潜修，特为一时推重云。
