旧唐书卷一百三十七 列传第八十七：
吕渭，字君载，河中人。父延之，越州刺史、浙江东道节度使。渭举进士，累授婺州永康令、大理评事。浙西观察使李涵辟为支使，再迁殿中侍御史。涵自御史大夫改太子少傅，渭上言："涵父名少康，今涵为少傅，恐乖朝典。"由是特授渭司门员外郎。寻为御史台劾奏："涵再任少卿，此时都不言；今为少傅，疑以散慢，乃为不可。"由是贬渭歙州司马，改涵检校工部尚书、兼光禄卿。
渭累授舒州刺史、吏部员外、驾部郎中、知制诏、中书舍人，母忧罢。服阕，授太子右庶子、礼部侍郎。中书省有柳树，建中末枯死，兴元元年车驾还京后，其树再荣，人谓之瑞柳。渭试进士，取瑞柳为赋题，上闻而嘉之。渭又结附裴延龄之子操，举进士，文词非工，渭擢之登第，为正人嗤鄙。因入阁遗失请托文记，遂出为潭州刺史、兼御史中丞、湖南都团练观察使，在任三岁，政甚烦碎。贞元十六年卒，年六十六，赠陕州大都督。子温、恭、俭、让。
