叶成忠，浙江镇海人。
清史稿卷四百九十九 列传二百八十六：
叶成忠，字澄衷，浙江镇海人。世为农。六岁而孤，母洪抚以长。为农家佣，苦主妇苛，去之上海，棹扁舟江上，就来舶鬻杂具。西人有遗革囊路侧者，成忠守伺而还之，酬以金不受，乃为之延誉，多购其物，因渐有所蓄。西人制物以机器，凡杂具以铜铁及他金类造者，设肆以鬻，谓之五金。成忠肆虹口，数年业大盛，乃分肆遍通商诸埠。就上海、汉口设厂，缫丝、造火柴，赀益丰。乃置祠田，兴义塾，设医局。会朝议重学校，成忠出赀四十万建澄衷学堂，规制宏备，生徒景从。制字课图说、修身、舆地诸书，诸校用之，以为善本。又建怀德堂，佣於所设肆者死，育其孤，恤其嫠，困乏者岁时存问，毋俾冻馁。乡人为之谚曰：“依澄衷，不忧穷。”凡佣於叶氏，皆为尽力。成忠屡以出赀助赈，叙劳至候选道，加二品顶戴，卒。命诸子人择一业，行义竟其志，勿邀赏。
